Number of homeless students increasing
More than 269,000 California public schoolhouse students – about 4 percent of all students, double the national boilerplate – don't have a consistent identify to call home at night, according to a land report released Wednesday. Homeless students are automatically counted as low-income students and qualify for designated funds nether the new Local Control Funding Formula, said Shahera Hyatt, manager of the California Homeless Youth Project.
